Tiki No

I’ve been a fan of tiki bar decor since before I was old enough to drink so, when my daughter suggested we stop by Tiki No for happy hour, I couldn’t resist. She had been there with friends, on the front end of a pub crawl, and had good things to say about the Coconut Mojito.

The place was pretty empty for happy hour, especially on a Thursday night, but the bartender was nice and she took time to tell us about all the specialty drinks. I opted for a Lychee Luau and my daughter ordered the Pińa Colada. Both were tasty and decorated with an umbrella and a small orchid.

While the drinks were yummy, the best part of the bar is the decor. Our table was lit by a tribal lantern in a hanging bamboo cage. Smaller tables had tiki masks with lights that illuminated the facial features. It’s got a vibe like Disneyland’s Tiki Room but there’s rum and lanterns made of dried puffer fish hanging above the bar.

Happy hours are from 5 – 8 but don’t go hungry. Potato chips are the only food item on the menu. Rumor has it the food trucks stop here on Thursday nights but we didn’t see any last night. Maybe it’s just a summer time thing.
